You may have noticed that RVC did not have a fundraising gala this year. We decided that because so many of our partner organizations rely on annual events as a significant source of revenues for their important work, we did not want RVC to compete by adding one more gala to the mix. Please support our partners by attending their events.
But RVC still needs funding to continue our work, so instead of a fundraising gala, we are launching a naming campaign!
Have you ever wanted to put your name on a building, but you just don’t yet have $1,000,000? Well, cheer up! You can put your name on stuff and help RVC do its work of developing leaders and organizations of color to fight injustice! Just think, The Jane Smith Room for Synergistic Paradigm Shifting, but replace “Jane Smith” with your name, and replace “Synergistic Paradigm Shifting” to something that actually makes sense. It’s also a great way to honor a loved one!
This seems like a silly campaign, but we’re serious. If we name everything in the office, we’ll net over $50,000, which is what we would have made if we put on a gala. This funding will help RVC pay our fellows better, so that they can continue to do their awesome and much-needed work of building a just and inclusive society.
To buy the naming rights to something, please select an item below and indicate in the notes what you are naming. Feel free to buy the naming rights to one or more, or all, of the items.
And if you are looking for something a little different, for $25,000 you can rename our Executive Director, whose name is currently Vu Le. He’ll temporarily go by whatever name you decide for a month, provided it’s not offensive or too long.
For everything $5,000 and over, we will put your chosen name on a plaque and invite you and your friends over to do a ribbon-cutting ceremony. For everything below that, we’ll use a label maker. The item(s) you buy the naming rights to will bear your chosen name until RVC moves into a new office, whenever that is, probably in a couple of years.
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Here are a list of items that have already been named:
The Sherri Wolson Refrigerator of Equity
The Amy Stephson Whiteboard for Creative Brainstorming
The Awesome Chair of Contemplation and Wisdom
The Clock – in honor of Year Up and our students. We value starting on time.
The Rifka Leadership Library
The Jodi Doane event wagon – Cuz I believe in the power of taking the show on the road… and not dropping stuff along the way!
Here are things that you can name. We have levels for every budget!
