What’s my role and responsibilities as a House Party host?
Just like any other party, the host provides the venue, guest list, food, and beverage! What’s different? You’ll have the opportunity to share about your connection to RVC and why your family and friends should consider engaging with and supporting RVC’s mission. This will help set the tone for guest to consider donating! The host also follows up with guests to thank them for attending.
How will RVC support me?
We will provide, (if you want 😉):
- RVC staffer to come through and share about RVC
- Event prep checklist
- Graphic templates for digital invitations
- Template language for communication with your guest (e.g. invitation, thank you, etc)
- RVC Resources
- QR codes to learn more about RVC
- QR codes to collect guest info
- If old school is preferred, we can provide paper sign-in sheet
- Donation envelopes
- Swag for guests who sign up to donate monthly!

What does the planning process look like?
We will have 2-4 calls with you in the planning process. During these calls, we will identify what type of support you may need as well as determine which RVC staffer will attend, if you’d like for an RVC staffer to be present.
How long should the party be?
About 2 hours, although the speaking portion would only be about 30-45 minutes. And of course, RVC loves an after-party…🤭
What does the “program” look like?
- First 20-minutes for guests to arrive and mingle
- You would “open” the program with your story about RVC
- Opportunity for 20-30 minute Q&A with RVC staffer (you can also answer questions, of course!)
- Socialize and eat!
Does it have to raise a certain amount of money?
No! We would love it if you could encourage folks to give whatever is meaningful to them (non-monetary is good too!). However, the most helpful would be if they did so as a sustaining monthly gift, if possible. This would also get them in the ✨🦄Unicorn Giving Club✨ which comes with cute swag – plus a screen-printed T-shirt for support over $25/mo. – and special behind-the-scenes content!
I’m still learning about RVC. Can I still host a party?
Absolutely! We will have resources for guests to learn about RVC’s work, impact stories from our partners and alumni, as well as some FAQs. You could use this as a reference or simply direct your guests to explore them independently.
Aside from a monetary donation, how can my guests support RVC?
- Fill out contact form and subscribe to our email list
- Follow us on social media: Instagram or LinkedIn! Be on the lookout for our Bluesky account as we divest from Meta platforms.
- Host a house party!!
Will I hear about how much the house party raised or other follow-up?
Of course! We will have a call after your House Party to debrief and report back!
How should my guests and I make our donations?
At your House Party, guests have two options. They can donate online via our provided QR codes. Or they can donate via cash or check, which will be collected by the RVC staffer at the party. If they missed the opportunity day-of the party, guests can donate via our website!
