Pay Grade: $42,000Benefits: Eligible, Class III: Forterra’s benefits include ten paid holidays per year and up to 160 hours of paid time off (PTO) leave. Earth Day Northwest 2020 drive efforts to deliver the biggest, highest-impact Earth Day that Puget Sound, the state of Washington, and the Pacific Northwest have ever witnessed. Summary of Position
The Green Pathways Project Associate will focus their work on Earth Day Northwest 2020 – Earth Day’s 50th anniversary. The Green Pathways Project Associate is a self-motivated, enthusiastic and mission-driven professional whose primary responsibility will be to support the Executive Director of Earth Day Northwest 2020 in identifying, cultivating and stewarding potential Earth Day Northwest 2020 projects and amplification activities. The position will also work closely with the CEO Emeritus of Forterra and Chair of Earth Day Northwest 2020, and other volunteers and advisors. This is a great opportunity for an individual who is a quick-study, creative and productive.
The Green Pathways Project Associate will be an integral part of the Earth Day team to effectively architect and execute broad-based campaigns, as well as work with partners to create and amplify projects that meet Earth Day Northwest 2020’s three pillars of sustainability: environment, equity and inclusion, and built community. The Green Pathways Project Associate also will take the lead on supporting Earth Day Northwest’s partner outreach efforts. Activities include meeting coordination and follow-up with partner organizations, as well as administrative support, staffing and supporting partner meetings and efforts. The Green Pathways Project Associate will focus on ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all interactions with Earth Day Northwest 2020 team, donors and participants.
Excellent communication skills are required. Due to the fast-paced, wide-ranging nature of the position, excellent prioritization and time-management skills are necessary.
Specific Duties
- In close coordination with the Executive Director, help coordinate project components, including tracking, correspondence and updating collateral material as needed. (approximately 30% of work hours)
- Attend community events and meetings with Executive Director to inform and engage members in the project and build supportive relationships with these stakeholders. (approximately 40% of work hours)
- Help to articulate compelling and thoughtful communications to partner organizations both in writing and verbally; demonstrate strong listening skills. (approximately 5% of work hours)
- Support as needed the fundraising activities of the Executive Director and Chair of Earth Day Northwest 2020, including participating in solicitation strategies and assisting with solicitations. (approximately 5% of work hours)
- Help Executive Director plan, create, and execute a diverse range of gatherings (some large) for project partners, leaders and community members to learn about the project. (approximately 20% of work hours)
- Adhere to the highest ethical standards; bring an optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to organize and manage diverse activities and set priorities in a fast paced environment
- Flexible and able to work well under pressure
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to develop a positive working relationship with a variety of people
- Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to learn Raiser’s Edge
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and strong problem-solving skills
- Must be able to work occasional non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends
Travel, Working Conditions, and Physical Environment
This position is subject to indoor environmental conditions typical to a professional office setting. Forterra will provide reasonable accommodations for people who are differently abled. The essential physical requirements of this position include:
- Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or an equivalent amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to sit or otherwise remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for the majority of the work day.
- Ability to frequently move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
- Ability to communicate accurately with leadership, co-workers, and volunteer leadership, clients, and vendors about matters related to the daily operations of the organization.
