Mentorship Program

Mentorship Program

Our mentorship program supports RVC Fellows during their two-year placement at a community-based organization through pairing them one-on-one with mentors. Mentors model leadership qualities, explore and discuss community and cultural dynamics, and will guide Fellows to reach their personal or professional goals.

Each mentor gets matched with a Fellow at the beginning of the cohort year and meets monthly with their Fellow to complement RVC’s formal meetings.

If you’re interested in becoming a mentor, we are looking for people with:

  • A passion for and interest in the work and vision of RVC
  • Experience working with people of color and immigrant/refugee communities. People of color are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Leadership experience in nonprofits, community-based organization, and/or public service sector
  • Active listening skills and a collaborative, supportive attitude
  • Knowledge of the following (preferred): nonprofit management, collective leadership, community organization, public policy, and dynamics of power/privilege/oppression

A mentor will require a completion of orientation and criminal background check prior to the start date. Fellows and mentors will meet for 1-3 hours per month. There’s a minimum one-year commitment, but we encourage two-year commitments for a consistent mentor-mentee relationship.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for next year.

If you are interested, please fill out the application here.

Send completed applications to [email protected]. For more information, please contact Florence Sum at [email protected].
