It’s the end of May and we’ve got a lot to say! Check out our newsletter for all the latest RVC happenings including an interview with community champion Johnny Fikru, upcoming Fellow celebrations to save the date for, and a peek at what RVC staff has been reading!
In 2019, we welcomed new cohorts of our Community Impact and Green Pathways Fellowship Programs. These 20 Fellows spent two years at local grassroots organizations investing their time and energy into serving and empowering their communities. Their collective care, passion, and vision for communities are impressive and inspiring — they are striking examples of what it means to show up in and for Community.
We were so proud to celebrate the of these 2019-2021 RVC Changemakers on August 14th, 2021 at our Champions to Changemakers: 2021 Fellowship Graduation and Fundraiser event. If you missed the livestream of the event, you can watch it above or at this link.
Thank you so much to all those who supported us! Whether it was donating, spreading the word, or celebrating with us, we cannot thank you enough. Your contributions in monetary gifts, emotional support, and dedicated time make a difference and encourages RVC to continue growing and creating partnerships that benefit the community.
Thank you for being a part of the RVC community. We are thankful for your ongoing support and appreciate your commitment to social justice and cultivating leaders of color.
This week we join the Black community, along with communities of oppressed people from across the world, as we rejoice in the guilty verdict against the murderer of George Floyd.
We have some big RVC updates to share, including programming changes, Green Pathways closing, and an upcoming fellowship gap period. Despite the changes, we will continue to build on RVC fellowship’s solid leadership foundation.
RVC Seattle (RVC) strongly condemns anti-Asian violence in any and all forms. We stand with our AAPI community. We share our grief, fear, rage, and solidarity with the loved ones of the eight people murdered in Atlanta and their communities.
At RVC, we have worked with dozens of grassroots nonprofits of color over many years. Some of those organizations have thrived, others have folded. When it comes to building healthy organizations, there is no substitute for visionary leadership and dedicated, driven staff, but every organization we work with has this. So what does it mean when nonprofits have talented staff and a strong mission, yet still don’t thrive? The answer: it boils down to funding.
